Being able to read well is extremely important. This is why at St Michael's we regard it as an area of priority.
Reading is how we access our learning. Being able to read well also opens up opportunities for us to gain new learning independently. Our aim is for all of our children to be able to read confidently and fluently, and have great language comprehension.
We do not pretend that we can do this on our own though. We understand and appreciate the importance of parental engagement. Together, with regular opportunities and consistency, our partnership helps our children become life long learners.
The documents below provide information about the expectations for each year group in English- in Reading and Writing. There are also documents containing how parents can aid the progress of children's learning.
